Chicken Karahi Recipe



This classic Pakistani dish is a quick and delicious way to make juicy and tender chicken. It's a favorite in many households and is great for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. 

 Ingredients:


1kg of chicken, cut into cubes

• 1 large onion, finely diced

• 2 tablespoons of garlic, minced

• 2 tablespoons of ginger, minced

• 2 tomatoes, diced

• 2 tablespoons of tomato paste

• 2 jalapenos, chopped

• 2 tablespoons of cumin

• 1 teaspoon of coriander

• 2 teaspoons of garam masala

• 2 tablespoons of cilantro, chopped

• Salt and pepper to taste

• 1/4 cup of plain yogurt

• 1/4 cup of vegetable oil

 

Instructions :


1. Heat the oil in a large pot or wok over medium-high heat.


2. Add the diced onions and cook until softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.


3. Add the garlic and ginger, and cook for 2 minutes.


4. Add the chicken cubes and stir to evenly coat with the onion mixture. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.


5. Add the tomato paste and diced tomatoes and stir to combine. Cook for 5 minutes.


6. Add the jalapenos, cumin, coriander, garam masala, and cilantro. Stir to combine and cook for 5 minutes.


7. Add the yogurt and stir to combine.


8. Reduce heat to low and cover with a lid. Simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.


9. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.


10. Serve hot with naan, roti, or basmati rice. Enjoy!
